More
Muckle Cottages is a small, family-run collection of lovingly restored holiday cottages in Northumberland and rural France.
Stew and Fritha began Muckle Cottages in 2019 after restoring Sundial Cottage in Netherton, a derelict former village sweetshop and post office once linked to the Armstrong Estate. Since then, they have added two more special self-catering properties to the collection, offering guests cosy and characterful places to stay in beautiful countryside settings.
Each cottage and gîte was once empty and in need of care, but has been thoughtfully refurbished to create a comfortable base for exploring Northumberland National Park, the Northumberland Coast and the peaceful villages, markets and vineyards of rural Charente in South West France.

Why MUCKLE? Our Cottages are based in some of the most beautiful parts of Northumberland, famous for its big skies, endless beaches, great hills. the meaning of Muckle is BIG, GREAT, HUGE so we thought it fitting to use a local phase to best sum up our lovely cosy cottages.
